The Organisation

Women With Disabilities Australia (WWDA) is the national Disabled People’s Organisation (DPO) and National Women’s Alliance (NWA) for women, girls, feminine-identifying and non-binary people with disabilities in Australia.
  
Run by and for women, girls, feminine identifying and non-binary people with disability, WWDA is recognised nationally and internationally for its leadership in advancing the rights and freedoms of all women and girls with disability (WGwD) in Australia. WWDA’s work impacts beyond Australia, grounded in a framework linking gender and disability to civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights.

The Role

You will oversee the strategic and operational activities of WWDA, with a focus on building infrastructure and capacity that supports the organisation to lean into its core identity as a systemic advocacy organisation, informing public policy to advance the rights and freedoms of WGwD across Australia.
  
Working closely and collaboratively with the CEO and senior management, you will inspire, motivate and support staff in their day-to-day activities, whilst ensuring a culture of high performance, intersectional feminism and inclusivity. Specifically you will: 

  • Manage day to day operations and improve processes for efficiency and effectiveness
  • Ensure compliance with government funded arrangements and reporting requirements
  • Oversee and manage relationships with external finance, payroll, human resources providers
  • Ensure programs and initiatives align with WWDA’s human-rights based framework

Skills Required

You’re a confident and relational leader with experience in a senior level operational role where you’ve been integral in managing a range of internal functions, influencing process improvements, and supporting organisational excellence, ideally within a not for profit, disability or advocacy organisation.
  
With a genuine interest in and passion for human rights issues and social change methods, and commitment to an equitable, inclusive and accessible working environment, you’re able to demonstrate a track record of success in:

  • Motivating and developing a remote and diverse team
  • Developing and facilitating policies and procedure frameworks
  • Effective management of resources to drive efficiency and sustainability
  • Oversight of and compliance with multiple and complex funding streams
  • Risk management and maintenance of quality controls

Desirable will be your lived experience of disability or experience working with people with disability.
